What is biology?

A simple answer to the question "What is Biology?" is biology is the study of life. The term was first used by a Frenchman named Jean-Baptiste Lamarck. It examines the structure, function, growth, origin, evolution, and distribution of living things. It has impacted society in many positive ways like more knowledge of the world around and cures for diseases. But not everyone believes in some on biology's studies. Some topics like stem cell research is highly controversial and looked down upon by many Americans.
